Hot water systems

Water heating can use up to 25-40% of your household energy, so it makes sense to use energy-efficient solutions.

What can I do?

Consider installing an electric heat pump hot water system in your home. They use a quarter of the energy required by traditional hot water systems. They may cost more up front, but they will save you in the long run.

How to heat pumps work?

Traditional hot water systems heat water with electricity or gas like a stovetop kettle, but heat pump systems absorb warmth from the air and transfer it to heat water – a bit like air-conditioning.

Do I need solar energy to run a heat pump?

Heat pumps can be used even if you don’t have solar panels - but if you do, you can use the energy created to get free hot water.
