Council is investing more than $197, 800 to support local community groups, schools and not-for-profit organisations delivering projects that strengthen community wellbeing and protect the environment.
The longstanding grant programs are just one of the many ways Council partners with the community to turn local ideas into action, build organisational capacity and deliver tangible outcomes for residents.
Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay said the program reflects Council’s strong support for grassroots initiatives that deliver lasting community benefit.
“These grants are a practical demonstration of Council’s commitment to supporting local organisations to deliver innovative projects that improve lives, strengthen community connections and protect our unique natural environment,” Mayor Kay said.
“Council’s investment every year helps bring forward projects that would not otherwise happen, empowering local groups to make Ku-ring-gai an even better place to live.”
The grants provide targeted funding streams across community development, cultural activity, environmental action and sustainability.
Community Grants include:
- Arts and Cultural grants – up to $5000
- Community Development grants – up to $5000
- Small Equipment grants – up to $2000
Environmental Levy grants include:
- Net Zero Communities grants – up to $30,000
- Environmental Conservation grants – up to $5000
Net Zero Communities grants are available for community groups, schools, universities, not-for-profits and individuals within Ku-ring-gai for projects that support the goals of Council’s Net Zero Communities Strategy, focused on reducing energy, waste and transport emissions.
Environmental Conservation grants are available for community projects that improve the natural environment or conserve native plants and wildlife.
The Community Grants program strengthens local organisations by funding essential equipment and initiatives to deliver services and engage with the community.
Applications for Community Grants close on 10 May and Environmental Levy Grants close on 22 May.
