Council is contributing $186,080 towards local community organisations and events across Ku-ring-gai this financial year.

At its August meeting, Council approved the distribution of $92,180 in funding to 53 community organisations and $93,900 for events and festival sponsorship.

This year’s community grants were awarded across three categories: arts and culture; community development; and small equipment.

Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay said the longstanding grant and sponsorship program is just one of the many ways Council partners with the community to deliver lasting benefits.

“These grants are a practical demonstration of Council’s commitment to strengthening social cohesion through arts, culture, sport and community programs, while supporting local organisations to deliver innovative projects that improve the lives of so many residents,” Mayor Kay said.

“Council’s investment every year helps bring forward projects that would not otherwise happen, empowering local groups to make Ku-ring-gai an even better place to live.

Grants were awarded to a wide variety of projects such as panning projects as community Christmas carols and Chanukah celebrations, through to a Persian Film Festival and urban street art. Sporting clubs, Parents and Citizens associations at local schools and multicultural organisations are just some of the groups to receive funding.
